A Citrix Case Study
Leicestershire Constabulary, the police force serving Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, needed to reduce time officers spent on paperwork so they could be more visible and responsive in the community. A 2007 work study found officers could access up to 70 internal systems while on patrol but were routinely returning to the office to file reports, delaying crime analysis and link detection.
Working with Point to Point and the NPIA, the force deployed Citrix XenDesktop Platinum to deliver virtualized desktops to Panasonic CF19 Toughbooks in patrol cars, giving officers the same desktop experience on the move without storing sensitive data locally. The rollout enabled full crime reporting at the scene, improved real-time linking of cases, provided consistent performance over variable mobile networks and increased officers’ street time by about 30%.
