Case Study: KL achieves rapid ERM rollout and flexible, scalable load balancing with Citrix NetScaler

KL is the membership organization for Denmark’s 98 municipalities, providing IT services for 520 internal users and 130 municipal-community users across a wide range of systems, including the SharePoint-based DMS GetOrganized. When IT manager Rune Koop had to implement a new ERM and get GetOrganized live by November 1st during an upgrade to XenApp 6.5, their existing F5 load balancer proved too complex, inflexible and costly to change whenever systems were updated.

KL replaced the F5 with a Citrix NetScaler software solution, which offered ready-made templates for Presentation Server, Exchange and SharePoint and was far cheaper and easier to configure. NetScaler was installed in about 30 hours, enabling KL to meet its ERM rollout deadline, scale services up or down quickly, and plan further use (including fronting KL.dk); KL also continues to use Citrix XenApp for centralized environment control.
