Kaweah Delta Health Care District uses XenDesktop to help doctors

Kaweah Delta Health Care District, a comprehensive hospital system in central California, needed a way to give 280 independent, contractor physicians secure, on‑demand access to clinical applications and patient data from whatever device they chose. With doctors using a mix of personal tablets, phones and laptops—and hospital policy preventing standard-issue devices—KD faced the challenge of extending secure remote access beyond traditional desktops without building separate tools for each platform.

KD deployed Citrix XenDesktop to create “MyKD,” a virtual desktop delivered to any device with Citrix Receiver (iPad, smartphones, thin clients, PCs). Physicians and staff can now access EMRs, monitoring, imaging and other clinical systems anywhere, improving speed and quality of care, work‑life balance and HIPAA compliance (data stays in the datacenter). The solution also accelerated application rollouts (e.g., bar‑coded medication administration), streamlined IT management and reduced costs while being extended across the organization.
