A Citrix Case Study
K2M, a Northern Virginia spinal medical device company, needed to support a globally dispersed workforce—including 170 sales staff across North America and Europe and developers in California and India—while maintaining business continuity between a Virginia datacenter and a Chicago disaster-recovery site. With a lean IT team and outsourced virtual infrastructure management, K2M’s challenges were to provide secure, high-performance remote access, enable collaboration and BYOD flexibility, and protect sensitive data without increasing headcount or capital investment.
K2M implemented Citrix Cloud and Citrix Workspace to deliver full virtual desktops and apps, enabling developers to work reliably over high-latency links, allowing salespeople to access Office apps and reports on any device, and centralizing data behind company security controls. The result: improved productivity and developer uptime, optional BYOD adoption that cut endpoint costs (about 30 employees opted in), stronger granular security controls, and low administrative overhead—roughly 10 hours/month—letting the small IT team focus on strategic priorities.
