IT service provider offers tens of thousands of customers secure and fast services using Citrix NetScaler

KPN, via its subsidiary ApplicationNet BV, provides the KPN Werkplek cloud workplace and other IT and communications services to thousands of customers. Faced with the need to improve availability, security and scalability for its hosted Microsoft Exchange environment and to support growing mobile and virtual-desktop use, KPN sought a robust load‑balancing and gateway solution.

KPN deployed Citrix NetScaler (initial MPX appliances, later virtualized on SDX platforms) to load balance Exchange and Lync, act as a secure gateway for XenMobile MDM, and enable XenDesktop virtual desktops. The solution delivered seamless failover and higher uptime for more than 36,000 users, better traffic insight and security (blocking attacks like SQL injection), and a scalable platform for expanding cloud, mobile and VDI services.
