A Citrix Case Study
East Kent Services (EKS) is a shared-services provider for three UK local authorities serving 400,000 residents and 1,500 IT users. EKS needed to consolidate three separate IT estates onto a single domain to reduce costs and enable business transformation, while keeping disruption to users to a minimum and preserving a familiar desktop experience across multiple CRM systems and reorganisations.
Working with partner Thintech, EKS deployed a virtual desktop built on Citrix XenApp and NetScaler so users access all apps from a single, familiar login on laptop devices. The rollout enabled hot‑desking, mobile and remote working, improved collaboration and disaster recovery, and delivered greater resilience and far larger-than-expected savings through IT consolidation and real-estate rationalisation, with surplus office space leased to other public bodies.
