Munson Medical Center, the largest hospital in the Munson Healthcare system with more than 3,700 staff and 420 physicians, faced growing IT complexity as new facilities and dozens of clinical applications slowed clinicians with separate logins and long startup times. These delays wasted valuable patient-care time and made device management difficult as the environment became increasingly haphazard.

Working with Coretek and using Citrix, AppSense and Imprivata technologies, Munson deployed a virtual clinical workstation framework that lets staff tap badges to access virtual desktops on any PC, laptop or mobile device. The solution cut login time to about 30 seconds, reduced labor and hardware costs by enabling reuse of older desktops, supported secure BYOD access and improved resiliency and expansion across facilities—maintaining continuity of care even during outages.
