A Citrix Case Study
O'Neill Europe, the original Californian surfwear brand with about 300 employees and distributors in over 30 countries, needed to ensure its centralized virtual workplace and web applications were always available and performant worldwide. Although it had used Citrix XenApp since 2004, the growing organization faced frequent downtime, lacked global redundancy and failover, and suffered poor performance and slow file transfers between its datacenter in the Netherlands and offices and factories in Hong Kong.
O'Neill upgraded to a Citrix NetScaler 7000 HA cluster for global load balancing, SSL offload and web acceleration, and deployed Citrix Branch Repeater appliances to accelerate high-latency WAN links. The combined solution eliminated frequent outages with automated failover, simplified administration, and dramatically improved performance—key applications run up to eight times faster, user experience improved about 10x, branch traffic is compressed ~65% (FTP transfers reduced to ~20% of original size), and the company achieved a rapid ROI.
