Health Insurance Provider Adopts Citrix SD-WAN and Citrix Virtual Desktops to Deliver Online Training

KKH, one of Germany’s largest health insurers with ~1.7 million members and 3,800 employees across 100 sites, needed to roll out eLearning and modern collaboration tools but was constrained by aging Windows servers and a fragile WAN. With single MPLS links delivering just 2–6 Mbps per site, video and VoIP lagged, outages and link flapping were common, and only about 10% of users could stream training videos in 720p.

KKH deployed Citrix SD‑WAN alongside Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops to bond MPLS, DSL and LTE links, prioritize video/VoIP traffic, and enable GPU-accelerated virtual desktops on thin clients. The result: stable HD video and reliable VoIP, fewer dropped calls, lower bandwidth costs through mixed links and local breakout to cloud services, improved application performance visibility, and demonstrably higher user satisfaction.
