Handwerkskammer brings Windows desktops to the iPad

The Chamber of Crafts for Lower Franconia, which represents roughly 18,500 member companies, needed a way to give employees, external trainers and mobile staff secure, flexible access to full Windows desktops and applications from anywhere — including iPads — without exposing internal systems or installing apps locally. Rising mobile use and the requirement to isolate external users drove the IT team to seek a centralized, secure remote-access solution.

With help from partner net2net they deployed Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop, Citrix Access Gateway with token-based authentication, and Citrix Receiver on iPads, migrating to VDI for specialized applications and streaming apps from a central master image. The result: secure, centralized delivery of desktops and apps to diverse user groups and devices, fast access to Windows workspaces on iPads, simplified management and high user satisfaction.
