A Citrix Case Study
OKWave, a Tokyo‑based Q&A community founded in 1999, serves a global audience with automatic translation into 20 languages and drives more than 50 million users and 150 million page views per month. Rapid growth and the addition of social and commerce services pushed its existing infrastructure to the limit, creating bottlenecks around SSL processing, certificate management and peak‑time CPU load that threatened service availability and future scalability.
OKWave deployed Citrix NetScaler MPX with TriScale technology—an easy, compatible migration from its previous NetScaler—to handle load balancing, SSL offload, compression and caching while centralizing certificate management. The result: lower web‑server CPU utilization (stable green levels at peak), faster certificate updates, more responsive administration, enablement of L7 load balancing and improved scalability for quicker service rollout and future virtualization.
