AF is a Swedish engineering and consulting firm (founded in 1895) that uses CAD, gaming engines and VR to create 3-D visualizations for clients. With 9,000 employees, global contractors and rapid acquisitions, AF struggled with resource-heavy applications, a legacy one-server-per-site infrastructure, siloed data, slow onboarding and limited cross-site collaboration.

AF deployed Citrix Cloud on Microsoft Azure (XenApp and XenDesktop) to deliver GPU-ready virtual desktops and apps centrally while letting local teams choose the tools they need. The move cut provisioning from days to minutes, lowered costs through power management, secured corporate data in the cloud, enabled access from any device (including Macs), and accelerated contractor and acquisition integration—improving agility, collaboration and operational efficiency.
