Fishery oversight agency makes ship-to-shore connection with Citrix NetScaler SD-WAN

The Danish AgriFish Agency, which oversees the country’s agricultural and fishing industries, relied on a fleet of inspection vessels but faced severe connectivity problems at sea. Mobile coverage was limited, forcing ships to sail closer to shore or use costly, low-performance satellite links, and crews had to manage connections manually with no central visibility.

Working with Citrix partner Zentura, the agency deployed Citrix NetScaler SD-WAN together with XenDesktop/XenApp to automatically combine and select between cellular (3G/4G/LTE) and satellite links. After a successful proof of concept, the solution extended reliable coverage (up to 23 nautical miles from Skagen), increased throughput, simplified connection management with a monitoring dashboard, boosted crew productivity and satisfaction, and is being rolled out to additional vessels.
