Case Study: Piraeus Bank Egypt achieves 327% ROI and halves energy use with Citrix virtualization

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Piraeus Bank Egypt Case Study

Financial services firm cuts expenses and improves ROI with Citrix end-to-end virtualization

Piraeus Bank Egypt, a private bank with about 1,000 employees, faced the challenge of delivering always-on services to a growing number of branches and users while supporting an expanding application portfolio over limited bandwidth. IT needed seamless continuity during maintenance and upgrades, strong disaster-recovery capability, and scalability — all without raising operational costs.

The bank built a private cloud on Citrix XenServer, consolidated dozens of physical racks into three production and two DR blade enclosures, and deployed Citrix NetScaler for high-performance load balancing plus XenApp and XenDesktop (with app streaming) to centralize and accelerate delivery of ~80 applications. The overhaul delivered nearly 300% more processing capacity, cut power use by about 50%, achieved a 327% ROI with a six-month payback, improved uptime and user experience, and reduced desk-side support and overall IT overhead.
