Danish healthcare authority readies client platform for EHR system in just four months with Citrix XenApp

Region Hovedstaden (Region H), the Danish capital region that runs nine hospitals and, together with neighboring Region Sealand, supports 20 hospitals and 44,000 clinicians, faced a looming four-month deadline to deploy the latest Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. Their existing VDI infrastructure couldn’t support the new Epic version, so the IT team needed a fast, non-disruptive, and cost-effective way to deliver a stable EHR platform for clinicians.

Region H partnered with Citrix to implement a XenApp-based app-delivery environment, rolling out the client platform on schedule to pilot hospitals. The virtualized solution centralized management and updates, delivered faster, more reliable access to always-updated patient records, reduced IT troubleshooting, and provided scalable, future-proof infrastructure—improving clinician responsiveness and supporting better patient care.
