Case Study: Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) achieves world-class environmental protection and faster flood modelling with Citrix Workspace

A Citrix Case Study

Creating a world-class environment protection agency for Scotland

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is transforming into a world‑class environmental protection agency under its One Planet Prosperity strategy. To better protect Scotland’s environment and public health, SEPA needed to reduce its carbon footprint, enable secure remote and field working across 27 locations (including its ocean survey vessel), and speed up data‑intensive tasks like flood modelling to deliver faster, more accurate warnings.

In partnership with Citrix and Gold Solution Advisor I‑KONIC, SEPA implemented Citrix Workspace and Citrix Cloud, moving from physical to virtual workstations and giving staff secure access to tools and data from any device. The result: reduced travel and resource demand, faster field reporting and collaboration, flood models that went from eight hours to one hour, and quicker, more confident flood predictions and real‑time monitoring to better protect people and the environment.
