A Citrix Case Study
Consolidated Graphics (CGX) is a North American commercial printing leader with 76 facilities across 27 states and Canada. Rapid growth through acquisitions left CGX with siloed IT—each operating company ran its own servers, SQL licenses, backups and support—creating redundant costs, inconsistent processes, slow onboarding and poor remote access control that hurt productivity and made support and patching cumbersome.
CGX centralized applications and infrastructure using Citrix (XenApp Platinum, NetScaler, Access Gateway and Branch Repeater), moved SQL to a Dallas datacenter and deployed WAN optimization across branches (including sites in Mumbai, Japan and Prague). The result: faster onboarding (minutes vs days/weeks), significant CapEx and OpEx savings from datacenter consolidation and centralized management, a large drop in support calls, nearly doubled T1 throughput to ~3 Mbps so five more apps could be delivered without network upgrades, and an overall improved user experience.
