Confartigianato Vicenza virtualizes desktops with Citrix

Confartigianato Vicenza, founded in 1946, represents over 21,000 companies across 30 branches with 500 employees. Faced with a complex, distributed IT environment and the need to centralize large volumes of data, ensure continuous application availability across many locations, speed up updates and delivery of applications, and improve counter services, the association set out to rationalize and modernize its infrastructure.

Confartigianato deployed a Citrix-based solution—XenApp and XenDesktop (710 licenses), NetScaler load balancing and vSphere virtualization—centralizing data in a provincial data center and delivering virtual desktops and apps to thin clients and branch users. The project improved business continuity and performance, accelerated application delivery and updates, reduced IT overhead and technician needs, enhanced monitoring and centralization, and produced faster response times and better service at branch counters.
