Concha y Toro raises a glass to Citrix virtual computing

Concha y Toro, Latin America’s largest wine producer and the eighth largest globally, operates vineyards in Chile, Argentina and the U.S. As the company expanded (consolidated sales of $735M in 2010 and continued acquisitions), its IT environment became fragmented: corporate applications ran on separate servers, remote vineyards had limited broadband, backups relied on DVDs that took days to transfer, and IT struggled to provide timely remote support across 1,350 desktops and 500 corporate machines.

To address this, Concha y Toro deployed Citrix XenApp with NetScaler Access Gateway and Branch Repeater on a new server farm and rolled out thin clients in a phased approach. Centralizing SAP and the Kupay production system delivered consistent user experiences, faster remote support, centralized backups, increased productivity and a scalable platform for growth—plus an estimated 33% annual reduction in desktop electricity costs.
