Cleartrip accelerates application, reduces cost through Citrix NetScaler

Cleartrip, a leading Indian online travel company founded in 2006, operates multiple channels including Cleartrip.com, Agent Box, Cleartrip Mobile and Cleartrip for Business. Facing an urgent outage when its original application delivery controller failed two days before launch—and then rapid growth in traffic, products and geographies—Cleartrip needed a scalable, highly available delivery solution that kept costs low for the start‑up.

After evaluating options, Cleartrip deployed Citrix NetScaler (initially the 10500, later adding HA and a 11500 for a second data center) with strong partner support for migration. The NetScaler accelerated application performance, enabled SSL offload and multiplexing, reduced backend infrastructure and engineering effort, and now helps the portal serve about four million unique visitors per month while supporting the company’s move to cloud-based auto‑scaling and auto‑healing.
