A Citrix Case Study
The City of Pori, a public-sector city government in Finland with 7,000 employees across about 400 buildings, needed a more flexible and mobile way for staff to work. Its aging VPN and desktop setup limited access to city systems outside the office, making it harder for workers to serve citizens, work remotely, and stay productive while maintaining security. Citrix, working with Atea, was brought in to help deliver secure access to apps and data on any device.
Citrix implemented Citrix Workspace technologies including XenDesktop, XenApp, XenMobile MDM, and NetScaler Gateway to enable secure virtual desktops and mobile access. The result was greater flexibility, stronger device security, and simpler IT management across all locations. City of Pori expects to save €100,000 per year by shifting to thin clients, while Citrix also helped centralize updates, backups, and desktop administration, giving IT more time for innovation.
