HDFC Life, a leading Indian life insurer with roughly 500 branches and thousands of workstations, needed to replace legacy desktops to support a growing number of mobile and tablet users while tightening information security. The IT team wanted to eliminate local storage at branches, simplify device management, and enable staff to access applications securely from outside branch PCs.

HDFC Life deployed Citrix XenDesktop after a successful proof of concept, rolling out thin clients in phases (1,000 terminals at 50 locations, then another 1,000), moving core business apps to a VDI platform. The result: much faster application access, centralized patching and management, reduced security risk, fewer and leaner terminals with a 1:3 coverage ratio, and a clear path to extend secure access to tablets and mobiles.
