Vertex, a global business process and customer management outsourcer with nearly 10,000 employees supporting millions of customers and transactions annually, needed to migrate 350 Citrix-based applications from Citrix Presentation Server on Windows Server 2003/IE6 to Citrix XenApp on Windows 2008/IE8–9. The big challenge was ensuring application compatibility after migration without diverting specialists from critical customer support work, so Vertex sought a way to profile and remediate apps early in the planning phase.

Vertex used Citrix AppDNA’s automated application testing and remediation to profile all 350 apps; a two-person team completed the analysis in 40 days and found 72% compatible, 16% needing minor remediation and 12% needing deeper work. The effort saved 620 work-days (89% time saving), shortened the overall project by about three months, delivered a 32% cost saving, reduced migration risk and improved pricing accuracy—benefits Vertex plans to leverage for future migrations and customer proposals.
