Case Study: ZAG Personal & Perspektiven achieves smooth low‑bandwidth performance and rapid branch integration with Citrix XenApp

Better IT Performance for 100 branches

ZAG Personal & Perspektiven, a Hannover-based recruitment and personnel services group with more than 100 branches and 17,000 corporate clients, needed to centralize desktops and deliver applications from its data center. Their initial Windows RDS setup performed poorly over low-bandwidth WAN links—graphics-heavy tasks (long PDFs, image-rich pages) were slow—and WAN optimization products failed to fix the user experience.

A Citrix XenApp proof-of-concept showed significantly better responsiveness, so ZAG deployed XenApp from its Hannover data center, replacing about 650 of 750 PCs with thin clients and adding ~190 self-service terminals. Citrix’s adaptive protocol delivered smooth performance at low bandwidth, simplified management and rollouts, sped up onboarding of new sites and avoided costly WAN bandwidth upgrades.
