Case Study: Autodesk achieves 200% engineering productivity boost with Citrix CloudPlatform

Autodesk - Customer Case Study

Autodesk, a global leader in 3D design and engineering software, faced a challenge: more than 130 product teams managed their own lab hardware and workstations, diverting engineers from development, complicating security and standards enforcement, and costing the company roughly $500,000 a year in space, cooling and power. The distributed model also made it hard for corporate IT to control infrastructure and reduce complexity.

To solve this, Autodesk built a private cloud using Citrix CloudPlatform under its Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) program, providing on-demand development/test resources and self-service VDI. The results: more than 10,000 VMs deployed monthly, a build process cut from six days to four hours, a 200% productivity gain for the AutoCAD team, dramatic reductions in lab management effort (one team went from four people to half an FTE), improved workforce mobility, and lower IT costs and complexity—allowing ECS to be expanded to other business groups.
