Australian college improves the user experience for students and staff with Citrix solutions

Aquinas College Gold Coast, a co-educational primary school, was hampered by an aging computer lab of 30 workstations where students learning AutoCAD experienced very slow graphics rendering—sometimes taking up to 10 minutes—which created a poor teaching and learning experience for both students and staff.

Working with partner IT4SME, the college deployed Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop on IGEL thin clients with NVIDIA GRID to virtualize desktops and graphics. The solution sped up rendering, let IT quickly reprovision virtual machines for different rendering needs, enabled staff on Macs to access Windows apps seamlessly, and delivered enterprise-grade functionality that was more affordable and easier to manage.
