Warnaco Group, a global apparel company operating 650 stores across six Asian markets, needed a way to deliver timely Point-of-Sale (PoS) and corporate application updates without disrupting retail operations or inflating IT costs. Rolling out periodic vendor updates to geographically dispersed stores had become resource‑intensive and risked service interruptions within a tight nightly maintenance window.

Warnaco implemented a virtualised, cloud‑hosted environment using Citrix XenServer, XenApp and NetScaler with two‑factor authentication, centralising apps and data in its Hong Kong data centre. This allowed a single IT team to manage updates centrally, reduced per‑store connectivity costs (about US$35 vs. an estimated US$500), enabled secure remote access for managers, simplified future growth to 1,000+ PoS nodes and paved the way for streamlined disaster recovery—delivering faster, cheaper and more reliable IT maintenance.
