Arval optimizes data consolidation and application monitoring with Citrix

Arval, part of the BNP Paribas group and a European leader in long‑term car rental and fleet management, operates across 34 countries and has used Citrix technologies in Italy since 1995. To consolidate desktops and applications for roughly 700 users (about 430 on full desktops and the rest on published apps) into a Florence datacenter, Arval needed centralized monitoring of servers, hardware, network switches and services plus reliable backup and disaster‑recovery capabilities.

Arval deployed a Citrix XenApp farm and Citrix EdgeSight (with partner Vivido) to monitor end‑user performance, tune the environment and send customized email alerts using performance counters; it later added Citrix Provisioning Services. The result was proactive, first‑level support with fewer user calls, optimized XenApp licensing and session performance, eliminated subsidiary backup problems, improved bandwidth and application speed, and measurable reductions in operational time and cost.
