Ankabut, the UAE’s advanced national research and education network serving universities, K‑12 schools and research institutions, needed to modernize aging school IT and enable on‑demand, anywhere learning. The organization faced high hardware costs, decentralized desktop management that required on‑site IT intervention, and limited remote access to curricula and applications for students and teachers.

Ankabut implemented a multi‑tenant Citrix desktop‑virtualization solution (XenDesktop, XenApp and NetScaler), giving users secure, device‑agnostic access to apps and data and enabling rapid provisioning. Rolled out to 1,600 users in under a year, the platform centralized IT, cut hardware dependency (realizing up to a 35% reduction in IT costs across 85 vocational schools), improved security and mobility, and set the stage to scale to 10,000 additional users.
