ANK Bashneft introduces Citrix solutions for virtualization of desktops and applications

ANK "Bashneft," a major oil company, needed secure, reliable access to its corporate information systems from geographically remote branches and a way to consolidate desktops and data in the data center while supporting BYOD and high availability. The key challenges were delivering consistent application access across devices and locations, ensuring data security and integrity, and building a failover-ready virtual desktop infrastructure.

To meet these needs, Bashneft deployed Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp and NetScaler (implemented by Hewlett Packard and SITRONICS IT) to centralize desktops and deliver applications as a service using VDI and thin clients. The rollout served about 600 employees, improved flexibility, availability and information security, and provided scalable capacity (configured beyond 1,200 seats) with plans to extend BYOD and mobile access using Citrix XenMobile and ShareFile.
