A Citrix Case Study
American Structurepoint, a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering firm headquartered in Indianapolis, was rapidly expanding with new remote offices whose staffs run computationally and graphically intensive 3-D modeling applications. The company faced a costly, slow model of building full IT stacks (SANs, servers and equipment) for each site and needed a way to deliver workstation-level performance without duplicating infrastructure at every location.
American Structurepoint validated its engineering apps, then deployed a Citrix-based virtual desktop environment (XenDesktop with HDX 3D Pro, NetScaler and NVIDIA GRID vGPU) hosted on upgraded HQ servers, and added monitoring with Goliath Performance Monitor and Citrix Director. The result: eliminated the need for full local hardware, cut office provisioning from weeks to days, supported high-performance 3‑D workflows for engineers (currently 16 users with plans to scale), enabled secure work-from-anywhere access, and materially increased productivity while lowering setup costs.
