Case Study: Aer Lingus achieves secure, anytime-anywhere service delivery with Citrix XenDesktop and XenMobile

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Aer Lingus Case Study

Aer Lingus Soars with Superior Service Delivery

Aer Lingus, Ireland’s national carrier, set out to deliver a smarter travel experience with its Smart Travel strategy but found its IT lagging behind: desktops on Windows XP, 275 legacy applications and siloed data made mobility, security and compliance increasingly difficult. The airline needed an agile, secure platform to support frontline staff and pilots while simplifying desktop management and meeting aviation standards.

Aer Lingus implemented Citrix solutions—XenDesktop (Windows 7 virtual desktops for 4,500 users), XenMobile with 1,500 iPads and BYOD management, NetScaler and ShareFile—to centralize apps and data, enable geo‑fenced mobile access and secure anytime/anywhere use. The virtual approach simplified migration, extended PC lifecycles and cut support costs, while pilots and shift workers gained timely, secure access to information, supporting a paperless cockpit and better customer service across the business.
