Accounting organization chooses secure, agile Desktops-as-a-Service solution

The Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) is a professional association that provides training, advocacy and resources for CPAs in Maryland and nationwide. Facing aging on‑premises systems that hindered mobile access and exposed critical data on local drives, MACPA wanted to stop spending time managing servers and desktops so it could focus on business-process improvements and new lines of service.

MACPA partnered with Simplified Innovations to adopt a Citrix-based Desktops-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution—using XenApp, NetScaler, CloudPortal Services Manager and Provisioning Services—to deliver secure virtual desktops and apps from the cloud. The move lowered on-site maintenance costs, eliminated local data storage risks, enabled anytime/anywhere access from laptops, tablets and phones, and freed staff to concentrate on revenue-generating work; it also positioned MACPA as a model for cloud migration and has already driven productivity gains and new business opportunities.
