A Citrix Case Study
Sunderland City Council, serving about 285,000 people in north-east England, faced the challenge of regenerating a post–industrial city by attracting modern digital businesses and building the digital skills and infrastructure to support them. To achieve this, the council needed a scalable, secure IT platform and community access to computing and training to make the city attractive to new industry.
The council deployed a Citrix-based solution—XenDesktop, XenApp, XenMobile and NetScaler—to deliver cloud-computing services to public organisations and local businesses and to enable open-access training in libraries and community centres. The result was increased agility and reduced costs, secure mobile access to sensitive data, broader digital inclusion through community training, and recognition with two Beacon Awards.
