A Cision Gorkana Case Study
Lyst, a British online fashion platform, wanted to reposition itself as a challenger brand that “does things differently” while driving social and website traffic and raising awareness about the rising problem of dog abandonment highlighted by The Blue Cross. The challenge was to create a provocative, on‑brand activation that would spark mass conversation without alienating audiences.
PR agency Pitch launched The Lyst Canine Collection: a two‑day hoax mini‑site that “sold” puppies as fashion accessories, supported by a Puppy Drop to media, lookbook photography, and a campaign video, then revealed the stunt to spotlight puppy farming and abandonment. The campaign earned 60+ pieces of coverage, a 1,600% increase in social traffic, 120% uplift in direct traffic, 31 million Twitter impressions over two days and 10,000+ social mentions, while boosting awareness of the issue.
