The Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) led communications for the First World War centenary across three pillars—Understanding, Remembrance and Recognition—and needed a robust measurement programme to track reach and engagement across events, cultural programmes, social media, partner Arms Length Bodies and spokespeople, with a particular need to understand resonance with younger audiences.

Gorkana partnered with DCMS to build a bespoke measurement framework and integrated dashboard, using UKPulse alongside social and web metrics to track volume, favourability, audience demographics, spokespeople penetration and media landscape. The insights shaped communications planning (highlighting the impact of personal, emotional case studies and the need for integrated content) and showed media coverage reached 84% of UK adults, earning industry recognition.
