Cleveland Clinic, a leading multi‑specialty academic hospital, faced the dual challenge of communicating effectively to both professional and consumer audiences as patients increasingly manage their own health. The Clinic set out to secure a dominant share of voice in key markets and generate message‑rich coverage across national and regional media, and needed robust data to measure performance against its KPIs.

Working with Ketchum, Gorkana built a custom algorithm to aggregate metrics—target media appearance, story type, message delivery, spokesperson presence and prominence—into a single impact score, and delivered tailored reporting (quarterly reports, online dashboards and integrated media/audience data) for stakeholder needs. Competitor benchmarking and insight against objectives (reach, impact, presence, share of voice) showed the Clinic met or exceeded most goals, prompted targeted recommendations to grow national share of voice, and enabled PR teams to clearly demonstrate value to institute leaders (work that earned AMEC recognition).
