Case Study: Wörthersee Tourismus achieves year‑round outdoor Wi‑Fi coverage and visitor insights with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Wörthersee Tourismus Case Study

Wörthersee Tourismus - Customer Case Study

Wörthersee Tourismus needed its first wireless network to cover a 24 km lake area across varied terrain and extreme temperatures while providing simple, restricted guest access and a separate test network. They selected Cisco Meraki for a reliable, cloud-managed outdoor solution that could be preconfigured and deployed quickly.

Cisco Meraki deployed over 60 IP67-rated MR66 outdoor access points, preconfigured and cloud-managed, with a walled garden for local information, email login, Layer 3 isolation of the LAN, and Layer 7 traffic shaping and firewall rules; Meraki’s location analytics and API were also used for insights. The network now delivers year-round connectivity, has served over 50,000 unique users transferring nearly 3 TB of data, captures guest information via the walled garden, and provides automatic alerts and firmware updates—enabling future integrations like mobile ticketing.
