Case Study: WPP achieves sustainable, flexible campuses and carbon reduction with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the WPP Case Study

Workplace Transformation Delivers Sustainable Vision at WPP

WPP, the world’s largest marketing and communications services company with more than 109,000 people and offices globally, needed an IT-led workplace transformation to support a dynamic, flexible culture while meeting ambitious sustainability targets (net zero scope 1 & 2 by 2025 and scope 3 by 2030) and enabling smarter space and resource management. To do this it engaged Cisco Meraki, using Cisco Meraki MT sensors alongside Cisco LAN and Wi‑Fi infrastructure and Catalyst 9000 switches as core components of its smart campus strategy.

Cisco Meraki deployed a cloud-first platform of MT sensors, wireless connectivity and switches to monitor HVAC, power, air quality and space usage, enabling remote management, rapid sensor rollout and workplace mobility. The implementation delivered measurable results: a 44% cut in cooling energy and a 27% drop in total energy at WPP’s Sea Containers House data centre, a projected global carbon reduction of 86 kilotons (equivalent to planting 1.5 million trees annually), support for up to 80,000 campus-based employees, and a platform for prototyping new workstyles—demonstrating Cisco Meraki’s role in WPP’s sustainability and flexible-work goals.
