MallorcaWiFi was tasked by the City of Palma to provide free, reliable WiFi along Playa de Palma to serve millions of tourists and overcome high roaming costs while supporting the city’s smart‑city goals. To meet this challenge they partnered with Cisco Meraki, deploying Cisco Meraki APs and the cloud‑managed networking platform for a scalable, outdoor‑ready solution in a high‑density beachfront environment.

MallorcaWiFi implemented Cisco Meraki outdoor APs across a 5 km stretch (Phase One completed in three months), using Ethernet and self‑configuring mesh links, 15 SSIDs for businesses and services, and centralized management via the Meraki dashboard with RF optimization and Air Marshal security. The Cisco Meraki solution let MallorcaWiFi run the network with a small team, enforce traffic shaping and custom authentication, and monetize via advertising; daily connections climbed from about 3,500 (1.5 TB) to over 25,000 unique users (95% tourists), boosting tourist engagement, public safety awareness, and local business revenue.
