Transforming education outcomes in South Australia with digital teaching and learning

The Government of South Australia’s Department for Education needed to improve digital teaching and learning across public schools, especially in regional and remote areas where network support was difficult and access to online resources was limited. Working with Cisco Meraki and its cloud-managed networking platform, the department set out to modernize school connectivity through the SWiFT project.

Cisco Meraki implemented high-speed, centrally managed networks across hundreds of schools, giving ICT teams end-to-end visibility and remote access to school equipment. The results included support for 515 schools, about 300 with Meraki gear, 725 networks and 10,233 devices, plus 124,857 weekly clients and 2,284 TB of weekly data. The department also cut more than 20 hours of travel per month, improved attendance in some schools, and helped deliver a more consistent, “metro-like” learning experience for students statewide.
