A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Eurobodalla Shire Council, a 550‑person local government on the NSW south coast, needed a simpler, cloud‑managed network that could integrate with a new Cisco unified communications solution and cope with limited rural bandwidth. Their previous, manually configured infrastructure repeatedly lost VLANs during power outages and required frequent hands‑on reconfiguration. To address this, the council turned to Cisco Meraki and deployed MR wireless APs, MS switches, MV security cameras, and SM (Systems Manager) device management.
Cisco Meraki implemented a full‑stack, cloud‑managed solution—10 MR APs, 60 MS switches, 400 SM licenses and initial MV cameras—using dashboard templates and cloning so switches auto‑configured VLANs and uplinks on plug‑in. The result: only two IT staff now manage the network for an 11‑person IT team, rapid deployments with minimal downtime, 80% of field devices managed via Systems Manager, and faster incident investigation using MV motion search. Cisco Meraki’s centralized dashboard and remote alerts have reduced manual reconfiguration, sped up responses, and freed the team to focus on community services.
