Case Study: Sullivan & McLaughlin achieves rapid, secure, cloud-managed WiFi across construction sites with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Sullivan & McLaughlin Case Study

Sullivan & McLaughlin - Customer Case Study

Sullivan & McLaughlin, led by CTO Doug Schremp, is the largest union electrical and tel/data contractor in New England and faces typical construction challenges: temporary sites with no infrastructure, changing blueprints, pervasive dust, and hundreds of mobile users in the field. To address these needs they turned to Cisco Meraki, already using Meraki APs and the cloud dashboard for customer hotzones, and sought a solution that could provide secure, centrally managed Wi‑Fi, VPN access, and mobile device management across moving job sites.

Cisco Meraki delivered a cloud‑managed solution (including MR62 outdoor APs, built‑in DHCP/mesh, VPN tunneling and Systems Manager MDM) that lets crews “plug in a stack of Meraki APs” and have them appear on the dashboard, eliminating many site visits for troubleshooting. The Meraki deployment has supported large rollouts (over 300 Cisco Meraki APs for the City of Boston), provided one‑AP‑every‑other‑floor Wi‑Fi with dual SSIDs on the Vertex project, secured remote access for the company’s ~500 employees (400 onsite), cut paper and rework by enabling tablet access to current drawings, and simplified management and security across all job sites.
