Case Study: Rowan County achieves centralized, cloud-managed secure networking with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Rowan County Case Study

Simple cloud management of APs, switches, users, and devices

Rowan County, North Carolina’s Information Systems team supports 22 major departments and needed a simple, scalable, and secure way to replace end-of-life controllers and support distributed sites with limited dedicated network staff. To meet those challenges they turned to Cisco Meraki, deploying MR wireless access points, MS switches, MX Security & SD‑WAN appliances and Z1 teleworker gateways.

Cisco Meraki’s cloud-managed MX/MS/MR solution provided a single SSID with group policies to prioritize county-owned devices, centralized dashboard visibility into switches, ports, applications, users and devices, and site-to-site VPN split tunneling for direct Internet access while routing voice/video back to the core. The deployment improved manageability and reliability across 22 departments, enabled remote troubleshooting and easy scaling, and consolidated network control under Cisco Meraki’s single-pane cloud dashboard.
