Simple auto VPN and APs & switches provide coverage across 46-acres

Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF), a nonprofit senior living and healthcare campus serving Hollywood’s community across a 46‑acre Woodland Hills site, faced an aging, hard‑to‑manage network that couldn’t scale to support 400 employees, 230 residents and roughly 1,000 people on campus daily, plus large events. To modernize and simplify operations, MPTF selected Cisco Meraki and its cloud‑managed stack — including Meraki access points, Meraki switches, Meraki Systems Manager (UEM) and Auto VPN — after testing competing vendors.

Cisco Meraki replaced the legacy gear with just under 100 Meraki APs, new Meraki access switches, Meraki Systems Manager and an Auto VPN setup, all managed from the Meraki dashboard. The rollout delivered campus‑wide Wi‑Fi that enabled reliable Wi‑Fi calling (fixing poor cellular reception), improved security with content filtering and AMP vs. the prior basic firewall, faster service turnaround by a <10‑person IT team, and lower WAN costs thanks to easy Auto VPN deployment — measurable benefits across the 46‑acre campus and ongoing plans to expand Meraki coverage and integrations.
