Case Study: Wellington Free Ambulance achieves a secure, easy-to-manage network for timely patient-data delivery with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Wellington Free Ambulance Case Study

Securing patient data across easy-to-manage network

Wellington Free Ambulance, which serves 300,000–400,000 people in the greater Wellington and Wairarapa regions with just 150 frontline paramedics, needed a more secure, reliable network to ensure sensitive patient data and digital documents are delivered accurately and on time. After operating a mix of aging equipment from multiple vendors, the IT team selected Cisco Meraki to simplify management and harden communications across the organization.

Cisco Meraki deployed MR APs and MS Switches with the cloud-managed Meraki dashboard, enterprise authentication, separate SSIDs for staff and guests, and remote troubleshooting. The solution was painless to roll out (MR APs in the head office configured in five minutes), enabled mobile device use, centralized management without third‑party tools, and improved the reliability and visibility of patient-data flows from the 111 center to dispatch and ambulances—helping Wellington Free Ambulance deliver timely, accurate care across its service area.
