Case Study: City of Fayetteville achieves consolidated surveillance and faster video search with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the City of Fayetteville Case Study

Revolutionizing city operations and security with smart cameras

The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, faced fragmented, hard-to-manage security systems after seven departments independently deployed different camera vendors, leaving a two-person IT team struggling with poor-quality footage and time-consuming on-site searches. After trialing Cisco Meraki’s Meraki MV security cameras, the city began consolidating its systems and ultimately deployed 61 Meraki MV cameras across municipal buildings and public spaces.

Cisco Meraki delivered a single, cloud-managed camera platform with Motion Search, heatmaps and role-based access in the Meraki dashboard, letting departments self-serve video requests and reducing footage search time from hours to minutes. The deployment of 61 Meraki MV cameras off-loaded most IT requests, produced actionable insights (e.g., gym equipment use, parking and traffic patterns, animal shelter monitoring), and created strong demand for further Cisco Meraki expansions across the city.
