Case Study: Cape May County Library achieves simplified, remotely managed Wi‑Fi and more staff time with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Cape May County Library Case Study

Reducing troubleshooting results in an improved library experience

Cape May County Library, which operates eight branches serving about 83,500 residents, needed to upgrade an aging network to handle more public Wi‑Fi users and additional library computers while working with a limited budget. IT Manager Aaron Day leveraged E-rate funding and the library’s existing relationship with Cisco Meraki to plan a refresh—moving from legacy Meraki gear to Cisco Meraki MR33 access points and MS250 switches to meet growing demand.

Using E-rate discounts (about 65% savings), the library deployed the Cisco Meraki hardware, activated licenses in the Meraki dashboard, and now manages and troubleshoots remotely via the dashboard and Meraki mobile app. The change eliminated most onsite visits, cut typical troubleshooting from ~20 minutes to about 1 minute, and freed IT time to deliver new services—VR stations, children’s programs, an events portal, and a MiFi lending program—demonstrating measurable cost savings and operational efficiencies from Cisco Meraki.
