Case Study: Douglas County Libraries achieves seamless, secure WiFi across seven branches with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Douglas County Libraries Case Study

Providing flawless, secure Wifi to seven-branch library system spread across 50 miles

Douglas County Libraries, a seven-branch system south of Denver serving a population of over 300,000 across 50 miles, faced dated access points and extremely poor wireless coverage that hindered guest and staff connectivity at branches and outdoor events. Cisco Meraki was selected to modernize the network using Wireless LAN and Security & SD‑WAN solutions (MR access points and MX security appliances) for simplified, centralized management.

Cisco Meraki performed site surveys and deployed a mix of indoor and outdoor MR access points and MX appliances, managed through the Meraki cloud dashboard. The public SSID now provides seamless guest access across all branches, Layer 3 and Layer 7 firewalls block rogue DNS and P2P, staff use 802.1X with RADIUS and no bandwidth limits, and Meraki reporting delivers user counts and marketing insights—resulting in measurable coverage across all seven branches, richer network visibility, and highly positive patron feedback.
