Case Study: East Stroudsburg Area School District (ESASD) achieves safer, smarter campuses and reduced maintenance with Cisco Meraki MV smart cameras

ESASD, the East Stroudsburg Area School District serving nearly 7,000 students across 217 square miles, faced a growing safety and visibility problem: aging, failure-prone cameras across dispersed campuses that required long travel times for maintenance and left the district unable to consistently verify incidents or worker’s compensation claims. To modernize surveillance and improve response, ESASD partnered with Cisco Meraki and its MV smart cameras.

Cisco Meraki implemented a cloud‑managed MV camera rollout—starting with 40 cameras and expanding to 1,109 across 10 schools, six non‑instructional facilities, and two stadiums—using simple Cat6 installs, local storage, and a single dashboard for remote monitoring. The Meraki solution cut camera maintenance to about five hours per month, enabled faster, centralized access to footage, helped prove nearly half of disputed worker’s compensation claims were inaccurate (saving the district tens of thousands of dollars), and restored confidence in campus safety.
